About Bold Turf Co.

We started Bold Turf Co. because we believed Jacksonville homeowners deserved better — better product, better process, and a company that actually shows up and does what it says it's going to do.

We're a local, family-owned artificial turf installation company serving Northeast Florida. No national franchise. No call centers. When you reach out to Bold Turf Co., you're talking to the guys who will show up at your door, walk your yard, and oversee your install from start to finish.

Our work covers everything from backyard pet turf and custom putting greens to commercial installations and hardscapes — and we bring the same standard of quality to every single project, regardless of size.

What sets us apart isn't just the turf. It's the experience. Customers across Ponte Vedra Beach, Nocatee, St. Augustine, and Jacksonville Beach consistently tell us the same thing: they're glad they chose us. Not just because the end result looks great, but because the whole process — from the first estimate to the final walk-through — felt different. More personal. More accountable.

We use PFAS-free materials, offer transparent pricing with no surprises, and we're on-site throughout every installation. We take pride in vetting our crews and holding a high bar on quality, because a beautiful install that lasts is the whole point.

Bold Turf Co. is new to the scene, but we've hit the ground running — and Northeast Florida has noticed.

Meet The Bold Turf Guys

Matt den Dekker (Co-Owner)

Matt grew up in Fort Lauderdale, went to the University of Florida where he played baseball, and then did something most people only dream about — he played professional baseball for 10 years with the Mets, the Nationals, and the Tigers.

After retiring, he spent several years coaching in the minor leagues working in player development. When he was ready for the next chapter, he found his way into the artificial turf industry — and quickly became a top performer in the area. His approach was simple: make clients feel genuinely taken care of, be trustworthy in what you say, and deliver exactly what you promised.

After that experience, he saw an opportunity to do things better — tighter crews, higher-quality installs, and a client experience from first call to final walk-through that people would actually talk about. So he bet on himself and started Bold Turf Co.

Matt shows up to every job. He knows the crews. He obsesses over the quality of the install. And he still approaches every estimate the way he approached every at-bat — prepared, focused, and ready to earn your trust.

Ryan Whitley (Co-Owner)

Ryan grew up in St. Louis, Missouri and attended Southeast Missouri State University, where he met his wife, Kate. After college, he spent more than a decade in Chicago building a successful career as a capital equipment salesperson in the animal health industry. As their family grew and their kids approached school age, Ryan and Kate began thinking about what the next chapter might look like — one that prioritized family time, community, and a lifestyle built around being outdoors.

A job opportunity eventually brought Ryan to Jacksonville, and the move quickly confirmed they had made the right choice. The warm weather, welcoming community, and slower pace of life created the kind of environment where families and neighbors genuinely connect.

Not long after settling in, Ryan met Matt while coaching youth baseball. Matt had already spent years in the turf industry and was exploring the idea of starting something of his own. The vision of building a local business — one focused on quality work, strong relationships, and being deeply involved in the community — immediately resonated. Soon after, Bold Turf Co. was born.

Today, Ryan focuses on the client experience from start to finish. He’s meeting homeowners, preparing quotes, checking in on projects, and often working right alongside the crew. That hands-on approach — the one customers frequently mention in reviews — reflects Ryan’s belief that great work comes from staying connected to both the project and the people behind it.
